Guess the time has finally come. Your car finally reaches its end of life. It may be fixable, but the technician is asking you twice the car’s value. Well, I hate to break it to you, but its time to say goodbye to your vehicle.
This dreadful day comes in everyone’s life, even mine as well.
So last month my Volkswagen breaks down for good. I have an unbreakable bond with my car, and it was so hard to let it go. However, I was almost prepared for this inevitable day.
I had three options- repair it, sell it on Trade me or sell it to a local car wrecker.
The first option was out of the question, as paying such a large sum to the repair guy was not financially viable. So, I decided to try my luck at TradeMe, hoping for someone to buy it, but that doesn’t work out as well.
So, I turn towards Car wreckers. The only way to get some decent money was to scrap it. So, I searched how to scrap my car in Auckland and landed on The Scrap Car Company.
The process was so easy that it looks so good to be true. Since I had no other choice, I decided to go with it, and hope for the best.
The selling process- Scrapping a car
I call the number, and the representative picked it up. I was unsure what to say, so I started with, “I have an old car to sell, are you interested”? He asked me some basic questions like how old is your car, what parts still work, is it deregistered, etc. Then he gives me a price estimate, and ask me the time for a home visit for the final price offer. I asked him to send their representative in the evening. Then, a guy comes over to my place to check the car in person. He gave me the final price estimation. Well, it was way more than expected.
Then I gave him a pickup time, and they send some guys to pick it up and pay me cash upfront.
Deregister a car
Then came the deregistration process, and it was surprisingly easy. I submitted the car’s number plate and the registration license tag at the AA and, file an MR15 form.
That was the whole process of how I scrap my car in Auckland, and luckily, I get it done within 48 hours.
